Sam's Thai Travels
Hello all,
Right I'm not having much luck with this damned computer today, tried to upload all my pictures again and ended up that there is some fault and they are corrupt so it won't work although they aren't corrupt cos they work fine on the CD. So sorry guys will have to wait a bit longer until I can this sorted. May just put them on yahoo and give you the link. Then wrote up a massive piece of our 4-day stay in Krabi and when i went to save it the page had expired and didn't save it - tis not my day! So I am going to wait a day to write up Krabi again otherwise I might go spare and will tell you about Bangkok, which is where I am, instead.
We arrived early the other morning after getting the overnight train from Krabi and got off the train at 6am - not nice. After thinking that sleep was the only option, Max, Paul, James and I decided to head out for some exploring instead while it was still cool and not many people around. We got a water taxi to Wat Poh - one of the main buddhist temples and hired a guide to tell us all about it. He was absolutely great if not slightly off the wall and told us about everything from buddhist symbolism to jokes about, god knows, freckles! He also made a very strange but v.amusing sound when after he told a joke, the 4 of us were practically in tearful hysterics by the end! Then we got a tuk tuk (mad motorised moped that can fit 4 ppl) to the grand palace but decided not to go in as we didn't have the proper clothing on. After that we headed for the weekend market which wsa great alhtough very hot and busy so we didn't stay there that long. ANd by this time we were all so exhausted that we had to head back for a good afternoon siesta. Almost missed dinner but t hankfuly woke up. Didn't do much that night as everyone was so tired and we had to get up early the next morning for out trip to the River Kwai.
Up bright and early for heading out to the bridge over the River Kwai and all things related to it. First went to a floating market and got this mad long tail speed boat to the market which was soo much fun if not a tad scarey every time we nearly crashed into the side! Floating market was a bit of a tourist trap but interesting to see nonetheless. The we headed to a war museum which showed up lots of pics of the POWS and tortues methods used by the japanese - quite upsetting. Then had some lunch right on the river which was cool. Then went to the bridge which is actually the original (it was blown up) or in the same place as the original (further upstream) but still good to see! Then headed back and got into bangkok at about 6pm - quite a long day. Went out for a late dinner for our last night together as it was the end of the tour and then headed into town for some drinks, seeing lots of ladyboys (some of whom are v.pretty!) all around us!
Today everyone is doing their own thing as the tour is now ended and Max, Paul, James and I are organising our little trip to Koh Samet - an island about 4 hours away from here for a few days until James has to go home, Max has to go to India and Paul and I head up to Chang Mai and an elephant conservation to be volunteers for a week!
Will update about Krabi soon and try and get pics to you all a.s.a.p
Missing you all,
love lots and lots
