All we have done the last couple of days in shop! Rikki has done all her christmas shopping, ive done most of it. We ate at the market again the other night and had a steak last night as a treat! We have also had Japanese again, thats about 4 times in Hong Kong! Its so cheap too.
Yet again the weather has been poor. Visibility has been terrible except for last night. It was a clear night, well it was still overcast but you could see the tops of the buildings for the first time in a week. We got the star ferry to central, then immediately back again. Its our favourite way of getting from one side of the river to the other and also the cheapest! We watched the light show again which was really good and I managed to get some good pictures and videos. All the major cities with a half decent skyline should do a light show as its pretty spectacular.
We cant believe its our last day today and we fly tomorrow! Its gone so quickly but we have had some amazing experiences and met some great people from all corners of the globe including Germany, France, Sweden, South Africa, Canada, Australia and a couple from Selby!! Not to mention the people from the countries we have visited. I moan a lot about them, and to be fair, 75% of people get on my t***, but the other 25% have made the trip even better.
Anyway, here is my top 5 countries:
1) Laos
2) Hong Kong
3) Cambodia
4) Singapore
5) Thailand
Rikki agrees with me too which is a first! Our top moments are as followed... The nominations for Rikki and Tom's Asian adventure 2012 are:
- Tubing and Kayaking down the Mekong River in Laos
- Watching a huge thunderstorm over the skyline of Kuala Lumpur
- Spending 3 days on a boat with a Lao family
- The Orangutan sanctuary in Sepilok, Borneo
- The Star Ferry at night in Hong Kong
- Snorkeling with tropical fish and coral in the Sulu Sea, Philippines
- The Tomb Raider Temple in Cambodia
- The COPE Museum in Laos
- Diving off the boat in Halong Bay
- Getting pissed with a German couple in Krabi
and the winner is.... This is easy... When the Orangutan called Pugol cuddled Rikki's leg and stole her poncho. An amazing moment that we will never forget. There are loads more great memories but they are just a few that spring to mind.
The nominations for the worst moments are...
- Been in the Taxi when it ran into the back of a lorry in Borneo
- Rikki crashing the scooter in Ko Samui!!
- Me getting Measles/Yellow fever in Vietnam
- Someone trying to break into our bungalow in Laos
- Rikki falling down the stairs in Ko Pha-Ngan
- The room in Ko Phi Phi - it had mice and centipeeds in the roof
The winner is... me been very ill.
We have over 4000 photos to show when we are home and some stories to go with them. Its fair to say its been magical and we would love to come visit some of these places again in the future. They say that travel broadens the mind... it does, but it also makes you realise how lucky you actually are. Also that the English are the most polite nation in earth. FACT.
Cheers all the best!

Anne All sounds to have been a great experience and really looking forward to hearing more over New Year and also maybe seeing some of your photos. It has been fantastic reading the blogs and I shall miss them. We (Pam, your mum and I) had a lovely weekend in Liverpool though apart from the shops and the dock area we didn't see much as we were only there for a short visit. Had a meal in the Italian Restaurant you went to after your degree ceremony. It was nice to spend time together and we had a good laugh. There seemed to be a nice buzz about the city and I can understand why you both enjoyed your time there. Have a safe journey home. Love to you both. xx
Liz Oh wow just can't wait to hear about your adventure and see all the photographs. A good job I didnt hear about your worst moments earlier in the tripI !! Have a safe journey home. lots of love xx
