Monday
I decided that it would be best to start to move on, but a shame to not see any of the other islands, so booked us to do a day trip to the next door island of Isabela. We had orginally decided to stay there for a few days, but when we landed by boat, it looked such a sleeply town, that i was glad we did not. Even a girl who had been with the Equadorian Navy studying whales, returned to Puerto Ayora, instead of staying.
When getting onto the boat i met a guy called Uri, who was also doing the day tour and Nick (from diving) with his wife Neomi, a nice couple who were Equadorian. So there was a group of people to talk to while going round.
On the bus tour we first got stopped by a turtle slowly crossing the road, so got out to have a better look until it was on the side. We then went round looking at the old lava flow tunnels, 15 pink flamingos, the wall of tears which was build by world war captees, many who died doing it, for something that was done just to get them to work!
After lunch we got on a small boat and went around the bay seeing penguines, some sea lions etc. then walked around some lava rock to look at lots of small Iguanas, and a sea lion that was playing in the surf.
Once back at port, we were able to change and go snorkling in a bay just round from the port. Since most times there were towels given, i did not bring my towel, so luckily Adam lent me his, so i had something to cover myself up with as in just my jacket, it looked like i was naked, and we had to walk about 100 meters to get to the bay, which was done with no shoes across the gravel!
The sea was cold and i went in for a bit, but just seeing a few fish at my feet was a let down from the previous days diving. So i got out! In this bay, there was usually some sea lions that come and play, but today they were elsewhere!
Once back to Puerto Ayora, i offered Uri to join us for dinner, so Adam, Nick, Uri, Alana and i all headed out to a resturant on the port, where even though it was local, we ended up having western dinners!!
We then crossed to the Pizza place - bar for some drinks. Alana need to make some calls, so she left. Nick needed to go and check that his girlfriend was ok (she was ill), so he headed off, so Uri, Adam and i headed to Punga for a drink. Once we had finish Adam headed back and Uri and i head to the port to have a walk around. It is lit up at night, so we saw some rays, baby sharks, etc. before calling it a night, as i needed to pack.
