Today was probably one of the funniest days I have had in the last 15? I don't been even know how long I have been away?! So yeah, we were going on a bike ride! Which I was so excited for! I'd been craving exercise for a few days, don't know why?! so this was perfect! A little bike ride around Yangshou, see the perfect big hills/mini mountains (don't know what they actually are so..) and see real China! 9 hours later..
So we got our bikes, I had the cutest little pink one! (See picture..!) it just had no horn and no brakes. Best kind of bike ay! After two hours we reached Guilin Li River where we hopped on a bunch of bamboo and had a man push us along with a stick. Funniest hour ever! Myself and Carrie were lucky as our man had a bit of banter so we were taking pictures and he was getting in them, we were teaching him English and getting him to race the other bamboos! Awkward moment when he crashes and he falls off our bamboo raft and has to jump on to another one just leaving us stranded! I laughed so hard! You would have aswell!
After getting back on dry land, we cycled to a little town where men dress up monkeys and sit with them on their laps.. Strange. We had some lunch an then next stop was Moon Hill.
Right.. for the first time ever I know why it's called Moon Hill so I'm going to amaze you with my knowledge.. Ready? Ok Moon Hill is called that because the rock has a natural moon shaped hole going from North to South and from different angles it shows a full moon and half moon and a crescent. Impressive huh?! The 800 steps however were not impressive.. (Double it because I had to come back down!)
Final stop of the day was to the mud baths an hot springs! We all got into our bikinis and was walking through this cave, which was very very awkward when there are groups of Chinese tourists, fully clothed, admiring the rocks.. So we quickly but not very subtly squeeze past them and find the mud baths. Coolest. Thing. Ever. It was so cold when I fell into the bath but it's super cool. You float! You can float in mud people, tried and tested! It is the strangest feeling though because there are a few lumpy bits of mud it's basically like you are floating around in lumpy gravy.. but in a good way! After we got some photos taken, we got out, showered off and then walked through some more cave to the hot springs where I boiled myself for a good half hour to really get my money's worth..
Then cycling back to the hotel I only nearly killed myself twice. Keep forgetting they use roundabouts the opposite way! Although the bus could defiantly see me so it would have been his fault and the car, well it looked like it was going to stop as I cut him up? Not my fault, he can see I'm not a local!
It's been super typhooning for most of the evening so it's been a hotel job tonight which isn't a bad thing! Found a laundrette which is so good because I'm so over washing my pants in a sink already! So now we just have to chill until tomorrow where I again will do nothing but chill a little more!
