Hey everyone!
Momo (pictures in front of the largest glacier in the southern hemisphere) and I just got off the 4 day boat ride from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales. It was amazing! We saw lots of wild life, dolphins, whales, sea lions, and a plethera of unique birds, as well as glaciers and a small town of 150 people, only accessible by boat. No cars exist in this remote place!
The boat has many options for sleeping arrangements, al of them expensive, ranging from your own private room with private bathroom to sleeping in the hallway in front of the bathroom. We chose the mean of the two, which was a 4 person room with a window. Unfortunately, our 2 other roommates were an old brazilian couple who bickered back and forth about everything. I wasn't entirely sure if that just the way the language sounds, or if they were actually very annoying. But after talking with some other Brazilians, I found out that it was the latter. And of course we get stuck with the only two, old, annoying people on the boat when there are hundreds of young people all over the place!
On the second day, the ship hit open waters for about 12 hours, starting at 5 pm. I preemptively took a sea sickness pill since I always get sick. It made me so tired, I couldnt take it anymore. I took a 2 hour nap until dinner, where I got too sick to eat. But while leaning against the railing outside in the freezing cold and rain, gazing into the horizon attemping to keep my cool, I saw the amazing sight of a young sea lion, surfing these 3 to 5 meter waves in the middle of the ocean. Racing up to the top, and surfing down, going back up to surf back down, tossing around in the water with such grace and ease. It was beautiful. Then I pondered whether blue whales get sea sick from time to time.... naturally.
Happy travels,
Teigan

Mom Supposedly, you don't get sea sick if you are IN the water. So maybe blue whales and sea lions don't get sea sick......they just cause it in others.
John I looked on the satellite picture and realized that you are almost at the bottom of the world! Have fun!!
