Hey Everyone!
Hope things are going well in the states! Well, on Friday, Momo and I left from Lima, Peru to Santiago, Chile. It was a 52 hour bus ride!! It wasnt as bad as I though, actually. I thought my mind was going to explode of boredom or back pains. But really, the only annoying thing was loud cumbia music from time to time. Something we are already used to. They fed us on the bus, we stopped at rest stops, and watched some cool views out the window and some OK movies. Though "Innocent Voices" captivated my attention! (A sad movie about a boy in El Salvador during the revolution) I still talk about that movie on a daily basis.
Upon arrival to Santiago, one of the first things I noticed was the noise. There was none. It was completely silent... no combis, no buses, close to no cars...it was amazing. People are WAY taller, and I dont feel like I have to watch my back all the time, expecting someone to rob me. It was kind of nice for a change.
Momo and I are staying in a family friend's house (thanks mom and dad!) just outside of the center. Nice quite neighborhood with lots of trees, which really reminds me of the states. Their house is the nicest house I have stayed in outside of the states this whole time I have been in South America. They have a frig that stays on 24/7, with milk, butter, and a variety of fruit, they have hot water and a hot shower with great water pressure, actual decorations and not just trinkets they got at a funeral. As soon as my head hit the fluffy pillow and comforter, I was out like a light!
Anyway, its awesome here in this house. I will miss it when we are sleeping on the bus on Thanksgiving day.
Happy Travels!
