What a journey getting here from Thessaloniki! my goodness we have travelled thousands and thousands of miles across all sorts of terrain, then we get to Greece and suddenly are on a disney ride of a train through the mountains!!!! At one point I was convinced our train driver had gone to sleep as we swept down and around the mountains with sheer drops on boths sides!!!!! nothing like the trans-siberian leisurely stroll across siberia.... Wow! Wow! Wow! not sure I can say much more.... Athens is amazing, we have spent the last three days walking, walking & walking...... uphill, downhill and round and round... this place is beautiful, words cannot describe the sites so I'm not going to bother to try, the pictures will just have to tell the story. I have managed to download lots from our hostel their internet access is free and fast... Hope you note the word hostel, again.. Yep this is our second hostel, definately beginning to feel like a real backpacker. This hostel is in an area called Omonia, evidently the red light district, we have seen evidence late in the evening!!!! but its actually really nice, the place is very, very clean with clean towels every day, good beds, air conditioning and really friendly helpful staff so what more can you ask for especially at this price (32.00 a night) anyway off for more sightseeing enjoy pics...
