Just a short one today, we are off tomorrow morning back on the train so no more info or pics for a little while. we should be in vienna on the 17th May so watch out for new pics then. Well we're back in Beijing, we could become tour guides feel like we know this city very well now. this is our 3rd stay here and we feel right at home. Our trip to Lhasa was interesting... 1st class train travel in china means you get a cabin with 4 berths but cos there are only 2 of us you have to share!!!!! which we didnt quite realise silly dillys.... guess who nearly ended up sharing with 3 smelly chinese spitting and clearing their throats every 5 minutes? y...

We arrivedat Mount Emei which is about 2 hours west of Chengdu and found our 4 star hotel!! to be an ex-chinese government building.....set in the most beautiful surroundings atop a mountain surrounded by sub-tropical plants it was built in the 1920's so was very art deco although the outside was typical chinese government building the inside was actually quite a surprise. WOW!!!!! We left Beijing on a 36 hour train journey to Chengdu, met two lovely people on the train Wu, Li, Li and her husband Lo, Wen, Min she is a retired professor from beijing uni (history) and he is a famous concert violinist - we had some very interesting conversations... The scenery on the way down was beautiful forever changing, the mountain ranges look unreal its like somebody has drawn them on the horizon just for our benefit.. its much greener this way ...
