Hello,
we have been in Melaka for a few days now so we thought we should have a catch up. The bus didn't take too long and was quite comfortable so no worries there, then we got on the most delapidated bus i have ever seen - and i have seen a few now - to get into town, it barely made the journey!
Then hunted down the hostel and dumped our stuff. Melaka is quite like Luang Prabang in Laos which is a nice change from the hustle and noise and rubbish of KL. We have done our own little walking tour of the Dutch quarter and tried not to spend too much in chinatown - where we are staying.
Jonkers street the main shopping bit has had night markets at the weekend, we have eaten soooooo much yummy food! and last night we went on a night time boat ride down the river to see all the lights and mural painting.
we also spotted 4 monitor lizards on another walk down the river! they were huge!
Tommorow we may go on a ride in a Trishaw - a highly decorated musical bike and side seat. were going to hunt down the one playing hard house dance music! I kid you not . . .
The hostel has been very funky - the owner of Ringo's Foyer, Eric has taken us all out to dinner every night and were going on a sight seeing bike ride tommorow, the atmosphere here is very laid back and social. On the 10th we had a roof top BBQ to watch the Lunar Eclipse, it was very very beautifull. i took lots of photos.
we are staying here for a few more days before moving onto Singapore because its cheap here and bloody expensive in Singapore! (one of our main reasons for going is to go on the new Transformers ride at disney studios!)
so will blog again beffore we go x

Steve Taylor Watch out for the monitor lizards! Also listen for them too as they are known to sing. I think that type are known as the monitor rap-tiles......
Mum n Dad R lovely photos. Dad's now planning what to paint on our back wall...
