Arrived at 8am in Rio to a very basic hostel. Met some of the girls sharing our room and then headed straight out to Copacabana beach for a drink and wander about the town. Felt at home quickly and the city is a really strong mix of Portugal and America, and you can walk down a street and have a huge mountain towering over you right net to the tower blocks. Went to Maracana football stadium for a quarter final which had an amazing atmosphere and home team won 4-0. Thursday we got a taxi with the girls to Corvocado, to visit Christe Redente and see all the amazing views over Rio, Sugarloaf and Botofago, Flamego, Ipanema etc. We also passed lots of favellas which were built into the mountains, and got to feed some wild monkeys. We spent the afternoon with lost of posing Brazilians on Ipanema beach- very pretty, and then headed back via Arpoader which is very trendy and surfy. Went to the Brazilian pop night and to a brazilian buffet. Friday- our last day in Rio we went to Sante Teresa, which was a nightmre to get to thanks to the bank holiday, and when we arrived it was very quiet and not much going on, so we took some pics then headed back to Ipanema for a final relax in Rio.
