Hello everyone,
well i left Melbourne all set to meet up with family in Adeladie, Uncle Denis and Patricia picked us up from Adelaide bus terminal when we arrived and i cannot descrive how nice it was to see a house and not a hostel! The beds were all nice and cosey and it definately felt like home :D
We went for breakfast by the sea and then went to the Maclaren Vale wine tasting, which i found very pleasing, as we got to sample lots of different kinds of wine without paying!! now thats my kind of thing haha. Then in the afternoon i went to see my cousin, who we worked out i havent seen since i was 11, she has two beautiful little girls. Then we went back to uncle denis' and patricias for tea and they did made a bbq for us :). On the monday me and soph ventured into Adelaide city, and the sun was out, we wandered around for the day and had lunch and went on a pedallo (not sure if thats how you spell it haha) on the river, i was abit nervous at first as i have never had one, and after my last experience when i was on water i was a little dubious, however it was a very nice day. On the tuesday uncle denis was "sick" and couldnt go into work haha, so he took us out for the day. We went to a wildlife park and fed kangaroos and saw koalas, crocs and many other animals. Then we went around the beaches of adelaide and had a nice relaxing day. Wednesday was our day to leave, which i was very sad anout as i had had a great time there and got mothered for a few days, however, my cousin kerry took us out for lunch in the city with her 2 girls before we had to get the very long bus journey up to Alice Springs.I officiallybecame a fan of Sushi too!!
So at 6.30pm we set off on our 20 hour bus journey to Alice springs and at 2.30pm then day after we arrived. It wasnt as bad as you think really, i have managed to perfect the art of sleepiong on the go so it wasnt as bad as i thought. We checked into our hostel which was cheaper than we usually pay, it was on $20, however, we soon found out why when we saw tonnes of cockroaches everywhere, eeeek! We visited the aboriginal art museum which was nice as we got to see abit of culture.
Yesterday was the big day, up at 5am for our day trip to see Uluru!! it took from 6am until 12noon to get there... i didnt think it would be that far, you would think i would have learned my lesson about how big this country is, after all its the second time i have travelled it haha. We also went to Kata Tjuta which is abit similar to Uluru. It was a very hot a sticky day and words cannot describe how many flys there were, they were everywhere, on your clothes, trying to get in your nose and ears! Seing the rock at first was amazing, but then after about half an hour it was kind of like, ok i have seen it now, i really dont understand why people camp there for 3 days, one there are spiders and snakes and two it doesnt change, it stays the same!!
When it was tea time we all got ready for our champagne bbq at sunset, oh yes :) it was a nice way to end the day and i have to admit it was nicer to see Uluru at sunset than during the day, the pic is similar to what we saw at sunset.
Anywho we are off on another bus journey tonight to Airlie Beach, however, it will take two days, hmmmmm, lets see if i survive this one haha.
