A few days in Umeå... north of Sweden, 9 hours from Stockholm, the furthest north I have ever been!
Max and I took the bus up to Umeå, his hometown, and it wasn't all that bad as I thought it would be. As the bus wasn't full we had a row to ourselves so managed to squeeze in some sleep. But most of the time we spent watching True Blood, a tv series we are both addicted to thanks to Emma from Eskilstuna! Also to kill the time I read Wicked and watched Prison Break (yes I'm hooked on tv series!). So after 9 hours we arrived in Umeå at 10pm and were picked up by Max's mum. Home sweet home (for Max).
Anyways the next day started with a lovely sleep in... gotta love it! Then rode to Max's old school and looked around. It was very nice and was so funny to hear him say, "things looked so much smaller than what I last remembered! They used to look so big when I went to school here"... funny how these things happen as you grow taller huh?? =p We then went to this sculpture park which had some pretty cool sculptures and artwork. Check out the album for the photos. Pretty cool.
The next day was pretty cruisy. Another sleep in (we were up til 3am watching more True Blood) and then we went into the city centre and walked around. The weather was kinda crappy, windy and rainy but we found some cool photo opportunity spots (once again see the photo album). Oh had my first pizza roll which was quite tasty. It's like a cross between a pizza and a kebab. Anyways we then paid a little visit to his grandmother and then went back home.
My last day started with cooking and preparing for Max's belated birthday lunch with his family. We had a vegetarian version of the Vietnamese rice paper rolls which was a success once again (they're getting popular!) and then finished off with coffee, cake and blueberry pancakes! Yummo =9
Later that day we went to Max's uncle's summerhouse and he went wind surfing. I was too much of a chicken to try it as it was bloody freezing! So instead I watched and took photos. Then we had a cosy time eating Indian food with his uncle and then headed home. Of course we ended the evening with more True Blood and then sleep.
I left Umeå and flew to Stockholm the next morning and caught up with Ronja and Petter and a friend of theirs also for coffee.
So all in all my time in Umeå was quite nice and relaxing. Just taking it easy and watching True Blood…
