2 Weeks in Slovenia...
So after my day in Innsbruck I headed back to Slovenia to spend the week of my birthday with Gregor. It was really lovely to see him again. He started uni again so I stayed in Ljubljana with him at his place there where there was no insulation and it was freaking cold! The weather is really heading towards winter, the coldness is kicking in.
Anyways I didn't do anything that exciting. Just caught up on some little things here and there and we watched a lot of Friends while eating junk food and being lazy. So nice to just chill and relax. My birthday day was great. The sun was shining even though it was like 10 degrees. Received lovely messages from my friends and family and spent a day in the city with Gregor. We had lunch and then just walked around the town, a nice cruisy day (oh and I received my first present from Gregor, a MaxMara perfume... so nice!). I got spoilt actually, his family also got me gifts... chocolates, vodka and jewellery. I didn't tell them I was coming back to Slovenia so surprised them when I arrived on the weekend. They were very happy, his family is so lovely.
We caught up with Roman (the other Slovenian that went to Ollerup) on the weekend at his mum's place and had a nice lunch outside and then rode horses. But it was so freaking cold, I like had 5 layers of clothing on and I was still cold! I'm really not made for the cold weather, so much prefer the hot Summer. Later that evening we had a party at Gregor's family's Summer house to celebrate my birthday with all his friends. Yes the party was outside and once again freezing! I guess they call it a Summer house for a reason hey, it sure isn't Summer anymore. But it was still a nice party, we had cooked wine which warmed us up a bit. I didn't get wasted, I think I was too cold to drink haha but it was funny to see some of the other guys drunk. Good times.
So my plans to stay in Slovenia originally was supposed to be 4 days, then stretched to a week and then stretched even more to 2 weeks! I just couldn't get away. During the second week we went to this concert party where some famous Slovenian singers and groups were playing. I couldn't quite understand what they were singing and it kinda sucked when everyone was like "oh this is an awesome song!". Wish I could've sung along with everyone else but I "la la la" instead =p It was still a fun night just hanging out and drinking with Gregor and his friends. There were a lot of people and a lot of beers and something I noticed was where are the bins??? Apparently you just throw the plastic cups on the floor and they get cleaned up the next day! Imagine cleaning up all of that! There weren't a lot of people left when we left the party and the sight of all the cups on the empty floor looked kinda cool... so had to take a picture of it. I like to take photos of random stuff hehe. Anyways it was about 2.30am and the buses stopped running at this time and we didn't want to spend money on getting a taxi back home so we decided to walk. It was a cold and long walk (about an hour and so) but we made it! Even in our drunkness state (well more so Gregor than me =p) and I couldn't feel my legs afterwards, they were frozen!
I also went to Zagreb in Croatia for a day with Roman as he lives right on the border pretty much. We went with one of his friends who showed us around the city and took us to the main sights (St. Marc's Cathedral, etc). It was quite an overcast day but luckily it didn't rain hard when we were walking around, but it was kinda humid so you couldn't decide if you were hot or cold. Kept putting on and taking off the jacket. Anywho it's a nice small city and a nice town to just walk around especially in the Old Town which is lined with little shops and cafes and restaurants.
The final highlight of the week was Gregor's parents' 25th Wedding Anniversary party. It was one hell of a party. It started at 1pm and we left at 11pm. 10 hours of eating and drinking and dancing and singing!!! It was a great night. A few drunk people which made it a bit more entertaining but there were also some skits and songs that the family made up for the happy couple. Unfortunately I couldn't understand it but apparently it was quite funny. Yes I did get a bit drunk, had red wine the whole day and stained my bloody teeth. Looks so bad in the photos but at least it came off the next day. So we made it home and then collapsed on the bed. I hadn't even packed yet and I was due to leave the next day at 11.30am... so checked the train times and found out I could leave at 3.30pm instead but in the end I left at 11.50pm... haha once again I kept postponing my departure times. I couldn't help it, I just didn't want to leave cos I knew it would be a while before I would see Gregor again so I just wanted to stay stay stay!
But finally the time had arrived for me to leave beautiful Slovenia and head back to Denmark (and stop over in Malmo on the way). It was hard to say good bye to Gregor. He is such a sweet and gorgeous and loving person and we had such a great time together. Gregor baby I know you're reading this so I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and your family for everything. For giving me a place to stay, for washing my clothes!, for feeding me, for showing me around the country and just welcoming me like I was part of your family. I had such an awesome time and really really appreciate everything you have done for me. Missing you a million but talk to you soon on Skype!
