Today we visited the Ballestas Islands. An early start, a dodge coach and a speed boat took us past our first Nazca Line.
The Pacific Ocean was extremely calm and flat. As we went out to sea there was a heavy mist and we could barely see 10 meters away! So much so that the speedboat did a worrying emergency stop when the Ballestas Islands suddenly emerged from the mist!!!
The smell of animal poo was overwhelming!
We saw lots of Sea Lions, Humboldt Penguins and Peruvian Booby's (heh).
There was a whole beach covered in hundreds of Sea Lions which we couldn't see due to the most, but we could certainly hear! Plus not getting pooped on by millions of birds was a bonus!
On arrival back to the port, our driver managed to smash the side of our speed boat twice against the pier, both with worryingly loud cracks!
A short ride back on the local bus bid us fair well to Pisco!
