We had a big breakfast and packed and checked out :( I finished my book (the quickest book I've EVER read) and swapped it for a Sherlock Holmes book. Garth snorkelled and I snorkelled after him. I sunbathed lots in the hammock and swam.
We didn't eat lunch as we had to pay and extra $50! At 2pm we left our lovely Waya Island to the Fijian ladies singing a lovely song and got a much smoother, sunnier speedboat back to the main island. I felt very peaceful and blessed!
Back at out airport hotel we watched TV had dinner, played on the iPad and watched the Ray Charles movie.
I absolutely loved Fiji! The people are so friendly and it really is a tropical paradise! The speak Fijian, English and Hindi here a 3rd of its population are Indian. The pacific people here (the Fijians) are very different to the pacific people in Fiji (the Maori) as the Fijians are of black origin and not overweight like the Maori. The women look very motherly and few can grow their hair long. All the men, although muscular and tall are very friendly and laugh easily. I LOVED not wearing shoes for a whole week! I've never don't that before! It was cool to see so many types, coloured and sizes of fish and seeing the men bring their huge catch in every day, made eating the fresh fish all the more yummy! Despite the lush tourist industry in Fiji, it was clear to see that they are still developing and the locals are keen to receive money to develop their schools and children. I kept asking Garth 'do you think they know the live in paradise?'
There were a few Mosquitos but after the NZ sand flies, they were nothing! It was the first time I'd slept in a mosquito net too, which was fun! Every day fresh red and orange flowers were placed on our beds and on the sinks and toilets, it was lovely! I wish Fiji was a but closer to the UK!!
