Bula!
We have just finished our week in paradise on Waya Island in Fiji. We lived for six nights in a shed on the beach surrounded by white coral sands, turqiose waters and golden sunsets. So we sat. And we sat some more. Tough life.
But we also managed to squeeze in some snorkeling and scuba diving on the reefs which were literally off the beach in front of us - seeing reefs sharks, coral fish, mantarays and lots more. On our first day we visited the nearby village for a traditional kava ceremony to welcome us to the island. Kava is their local drink made from the root of a tree. It looked a lot like dirty dish water. And didn't taste much better! Although it did make your mouth numb by the fourth coconut!
Other highlights included cocktails on the beach, line fishing in the ocean (Amanda caught the first, the most and the largest! Which was lucky as we were fishing for our lunch!), swinging in a hammock under the stars and a few rounds of International Crab Racing. One night we had a table laid right on the beach, and had a seafood dinner and a bottle of champagne.
And that is about it! It has been an amazing week, and we were so lucky to pick the Octopus Resort on this tiny island in the South Pacific. We are about to have a change of pace as we are waiting for our plane to take us to our Californian adventure. This time today (we are about to cross the date line and get a full day back!) we'll be in crazy Los Angeles.
Hope everyone is well, and we'll be in touch soon,
Amanda and Tim
