Arriving at lunchtime we checked into hotel then headed out to get our bearings and to grab some lunch. We found a great cafe which served the most delicious food!! After this i wondered around for a while then visited one of the many tailored clothes shops. Well after hours of being measured, selecting material, styles of clothes ect i left with an appointment to return the next day for a fitting - wow 1 day and my clothes made for me! That evening a few of us went out for dinner to a nice resturant near the river. A few Mai tia's later we went to a bar where i had a few more cocktails and then on to a club Vietnamese style!! Well what can i say i woke up the next day with a very sore head and not sure how i got there!!! Needless to say i spent most of the day at the hotel - heat and hangovers don't mix!! Until late afternoon when i had to go for my clothes fitting - which went well and only a few adjustments needed so i was to return the next day for a final fitting.
3 day in Ha Noi and i braved hiring a bicycle!! It was great fun. Me and Jennifer got up early and cycled down to the beach about 20 mins away. Great view along the way and not to much traffic. The beach was lovely and we sat and enjoyed the view having a few cold drinks before heading back into town. Well the roads were busy by then and had to pay alot more attention to what was going on especially at cross roads where its everyone for themselves, luckily i had a little bell so i dinged away and made it through!! We spent the rest of the day cycling round town to shops and cafes - made a last minute decision and had some more trousers made from a different shop so alot of our time was spent going from one fitting to another!! By the end of the day all my clothes were ready and after dropping off the bicycles we headed out for dinner and a few drinks. The next day we headed for Saigon.
Hoi An is my favourie place in Vietnam the people were so friendly, it was easy to find your way around, and hiring a bicycle was a highlight of my whole trip - it made you feel like you fitted in!!
