We had a day of wandering around the lovely friendly city of Salsbourg today popping in to lots of shops and stalls. I love checking out what interesting stock the kitchen and homewares stores have. They sell many of the same brands we do.
The shoe shops were enticing but I'm saving up for a splurge in Italy.
It was a gorgeous sunny day so we walked and walked. At one point we found ourselves underground in the ancient cellars of the hospital. The interesting history of how alcohol has helped in medicine over the years is displayed in these dark, dank, smelly caves. There is one huge barrel that supposedly holds wine from 1742. We only saw a fraction of the original cellars. There were nine kms of tunnels under the city and they were used during the war to help distribute food, wine and ammunition to the soldiers. There's always something interesting or unusual to find if you look.
