Sitting outside the Reims railway station it was evident that the building had sustained bullet and shrapnel damage during the war (the whole area suffered badly at that time). It was spooky to imagine the battles taking place. After a short slow train journey we arrived at the isolated Ardenne- Champagne fast train station. We're blown away with the train systems we've used since we began our travels. In fact, yesterday, David was almost literally blown away!!...

Another big box ticked today - a visit to the GH Mumm champagne caves. All grapes are hand picked and up until quite recently all bottles were hand turned. When it's times to finally take the sediment from the champagne the bottle is upturned and just the bit at the top (that contains the sediment) is physically frozen and removed - very clever!! We sampled a glass of champagne at the end of the tour. Apparently there are 4,000,000 bubbles in every glass. O...
