Today was sensational!! We hired a car and drove from Marseille to Millau to drive over the amazing Millau bridge. David and I had watched a doco on the building of this bridge on Foxtel and put a drive over the bridge in a red Ferrari was on our 'bucket list'. Today we achieved most of this (albeit in an Avis black Renault Picasso). We took a 5+ hour round trip to achieve this. The bridge deck is 344m from the valley floor and it is 2469m in length. So majestic.

The drive there and back gave us a bit of a picture of the beginning of the 'French Riviera' - lots of houses overlooking the ocean for a lot of the way.

We ventured a bit further than Millau to the tiny village of Pyres. Obviously very old, with some buildings set in to the hillside. Just gorgeous.

It was a huge day for us. David drives so well 'on the wrong side of the road'. We collapsed back in our hotel room with beer and wine, nuts and cheese and a cup of soup. Bliss!!
