So friday after the museum flew out of Hanoi down to HCMC in the south. Would have loved to have done the open top bus thing down the coast but having only given myself 6 weeks and tried to cram in a extra country something had to give. Turns out Vietnam airways is amazing! It was massive plane and got to watch the takeoff on the TV screen- very impressed!
HCMC also known as Saigon is just a big city really. We made our way round the city in a couple of days. There is alot of history, most shocking because the Americans were there doing what they did only 30 or so years ago. Most impressed with the CHu Chi tunnels trip. This took us out to where the Chu Chi people built an underground network in which they lived in order to survive against the Americans. I lasted 30m down a tunnel before I decided that I really wasnt built to fit in a space designed by small vietnamese people. Our tour guide MR Bean was hilarious and really informative. Also went to visit the war museum which was again shocking as it shows how the use of chemicals ruined peoples lives. It really wasnt that long ago and it is amazing how the people seem to have accepted and moved on.
Amazing.
