Im sorry guys Ive been complaining no one is writing on my message board and turns out there has been nothing to read! I thought i updated a while back- but the computor appears to have delated from memory- either that or I updated in my sleep which is also possible!
So where have i been. Well turns out I did go south to do the bottom bit after all! I didnt want to leave the guys :( so I decided what the hey :) lets do it- only four days extra, can skip something else later on! Turns out it was a very good decision. Had a wkd four days on the bus with Gollum the bus driver, Kate, Sam, and the others- dirtyboy,extreme... ! We jumped on the bus very early monday morning for our long drive to Miford Sound. Weather dependant this is supposed to be one of the highlights of NZ. It rained - alot! The bus jouney itself was pretty interesting as the bus leaked and I had to sit in my seat with my rain jacket on collecting water, will upload pics I was laughing really! Got to Milford and had to brave the weather on deck to get some good photos. The trip takes about 2hours and most of the time we were watching from the cabin but to be fair the waterfalls and the mist do make it pretty impressive. Saw some seals too-again! The boat trip did provide the evening entertainment though, which included pimping a giant rice crispy cake (well what else do you do with a giant coffee filter) It looked awesome and I have to say Soph you'd be very proud! Pimpthatsnack.com has got a lot to answer for! So stayed that night in Tuapeaure at a kool little place with a large kitchen and walk in chiller cabinet- perfect for the snack pimping- who knew!
Next morning got up early - again! For sheep Shearing! Awesome day! Went to the farm, drove around on the back of a tractor, saw the sheep dog do his thing, petted a lamb and then got kitted out in attractive blue jump suit and wellies to shear some sheep. What could be better for 15dollars. After the shearing jumped back on the bus for another day of travel down to Invercargill home of the boy racers and mullets- (didnt see any mind)...and jumped on the ferry straight across to Stuart Island. Arrived there just in time for some afternoon fishing! Two rods, big hooks and a deck chair later we were down on the jetty trying to catch the smallest fish ever with the biggest hooks you have seen. No real interst in fishing whatsoever but it was fun anyway and we ended up instead visiting the local chippy for the 'best blue cod in NZ'-apparenty. Next time maybe should take the guys advice and fish 2k down the road with the right size hooks- naa bothered :)!
Morning...and we were up to catch the ferry and back on the bus again! This time heading for Dunedin which is of no particular interest to anybody but is another of Stray's compulsory stops on the east coast...(apparenlty it has a cadbury factory but I wouldn't know- the chocolate here sucks)! The Bus was begining to get boring and we had stopped for one of the many scenic lookouts/toilet stops at Curio Bay- turns out the dolphins were in really close and there were people kayaking and swimming around them! OMG!!... we were only stopping there for 20minutes, should we shounld'nt we!!! ...after a bit of ummming and arrr'in me and Kate made a break for it- we ran into the sea in our pants! Was soo kool the dolphins swam near me under the water and one headed for me but dived off to the side. Kate had one go either side of her. Very kool and very free. Was a bit wet back on the bus, and I did think the others would follow us in- they must have had very embarrassing underwear on at the time cos no one did. Anyway we were the envy of the bus and we added to the lateness but it was totally worth it!(www.doc.org.nz i think)
We were late into Dunedin- cant think why, and so saw nothing but a bar in town and then went to bed. Exciting.
Next morning back on the bus back to Queenstown...joy..decided not to stay in the party hostel we stayed in last time. Had had enough of that, Queenstown was far more beautiful this time with the sun out. Stayed in a kool little place on the hill looking at the mountains from my bed. Took a walk round town and did a bit of extreme trampolining in the evening! All good.
