Happy 4th of July!!!
Had a cookout yesterday at Lorna and Forrest's neighbors' house. Great time. Sounds sad to say, but it was nice to have good old American food, hot dogs, hamburgers and potato salad. Doug tried to make homemade ice cream, but it wouldn't freeze. It tasted good, though. Reminded me of home when we used to hand crank homemade ice cream. Who has the ice cream maker? We should make some at Old Home Day. I'll try to find the Junket. Anyway, my favorite part and don't laugh... was the good old American Beer. Sad but true, there's nothing like a cold Miller Light on the 4th of July. Then we loaded up the car and went down to watch the fireworks. So pretty. Thank you, Aviano Air Force Base, for letting us celebrate the 4th, even in Italy.

Today we hung out and relaxed, then attempted to ride bikes to a winery, but couldn't find it. Oh well, got my workout in and watched fighter jets take off and land. Tomorrow we head to Florence.

Later, Lorna and Forrest took us to the winery. The guy was nice and was from the States but married into an Italian family. He let us taste anything and everything. It was so good. I splurged and shipped a case home. 12 wines for 40 euros, shipping 190 euros. Seriously, the wine was so cheap, shipping sucked. (Lauren and Jackie - I found the best wine for you and bought you each a bottle) We wanted to bring wine with us for our trip, so we decided to buy a box of wine (yes, he does sell his wine in boxes) and take the bag out of the box. The whole 11-pound baby is now the top part of my pack. 5 Liters. So worth it.

In Florence now, about to head down to dinner. The Hostel does an 8 euro all you can eat and they have a DJ and a bar.
