Sitting at the bus station in Tralee. We just took a train from Killarney and now need to get on a bus to Dingle. (Its not actually pronounced like that) Killarnery was a really cute town. A lot more touristy then I thought. We stayed at the Neptunes Hostel which was really nice. Bigger than most so far. We had an 8 person room. They first night we shared the room with a couple from Australia that had been backpacking for seven months. They gave us a lot of pointers. There was also a nice guy from France. We chatted with him for a while about the differences in between our cultures and the stereotypes that we place on other countries and they place on us. It was very interesting. We actually just ran into him at this bus station. He's going to Dingle for a few hours on his was to Cork. Small world.
When we arrived in Killarney we ate at place called Cronin's. Great Fish and Chips. We are definatley eating alot of fish and chips. Haha. The next day we rented bikes and road down to the Muckross House. It was beautiful. Its a large mansion that Queen Victoria stayed at. We road about 18 miles all day. We also walked up a hill to see a waterfall. I was quite sore after. Then we made dinner and hung out.
Continued later....
We are staying at DingleGate hostel right outside Dingle in Annascaul. Its a really small farming town. There are lots of sheep and cows. The hostel has chickens where we get eggs from for the morning. We walked into the town we are staying in and found a bar. An old man that lived in a house attached to the bar was the owner/bartender, Jim. He was in his late 80's and said his family has owned the bar for 4 generations. His son comes in everynight to take over bartending for the evening. He told us all about his family. The door between the bar and the house was open and his wife came out to check on him. It was really cute but obviously the man was not happy she was checking on him because he quickly closed the door. His daughter is a nurse in the community.
The owner of the hostel also took us down to the beach.
The hostel is owned by a family with a 21 month old little girl. The wife is from Germany and the Husband is from Dublin. Very nice. I love listening to the stories of everyone we meet. Till tomorrow.
