We departed some time after 10, the drive taking us along the Elephant Highway so called due to the large numbers of elephants in the area. Unfortunately for us there weren't many near the road but we did see a trio in the mid-distance together with a giraffe later.
At the second toilet stop around lunch time Ruan, our driver, noticed that the huge petrol tank was hanging off. It was such a good job he had noticed it because if it had fallen off while we were driving it would have made the truck spin over! We had a quick lunch stop at the side of the road while he worked away securing it back to the main body of the truck as best he could.
A few hours later we arrived at camp and set up, now being a dab hand at getting our tent up and sorted out. After a shower I headed to the bar with some of the others before dinner. As we were having a drink Richard came in and bought a round as he wanted us to raise a glass to his wife Barbara who had passed away a year ago to the day. Such a sweet man and I told him that Barbara would be so proud of him with tears in my eyes. A few drinks later we got called back to the truck by Steph, our new guide, as the dinner was ready.
After dinner we sat around the campfire looking at the stars and then had a nightcap in the bar before going to bed.
Once we had woken up, packed up and eaten breakfast we went for a walk around the campsite 'planet baobab' called this because of all the baobab trees here. We enjoyed looking at the many trees and had a few group photos in front of the biggest one at camp.
Jumping into the truck we were excitedly on our way to the Okavango Delta.
Soooo excited about teh delta -- speak to you all after! Lots of love xxx
