We spent the morning today recovering from the long drive yesterday but did manage to get out for another great lunch. This time we went into Leuven to a very attractive restaurant named Voltaire. It seemed to cater to college professor types. Occasional rain showers occurred surrounding our solarium dining room. Great fun.
The big event of the day was our evening at the Brussels Opera where we had tickets to Cosi fan Tutti. The conductor was none other than Ludovic Morlot of our Seattle Symphony. He is the Principal Conductor of Brussels Opera in addition to his duties in Seattle.
Marie and I were invited to his dressing room before the performance where we chatted for a few minutes. A contingent from Seattle Symphony are going to visit with him on Sunday after the performance that afternoon. They had already met him in London before traveling to Amsterdam.
The opera house is in the classical design similar to the Italian houses such as La Scala. We sat in side boxes heavily upholstered in maroon mohair. There was no English translation. An interesting, somewhat unusual performance with very good voices.
