Happy New Year to everyone! Darren and I wish you all health and happiness for this year. We had a very loud busy New Years eve but before I tell you about that I have to say that we were totally estatic to find out that Mark and Rachel have had a healthy boy named Joshua George Swansborough!!! He was born on Christmas eve so a great Christmas present to the Swansboroughs! So our first drink was a toast the to the little fellow.
Saigon is like being constantly on a rally course the level of traffic noise is unbelievable. When you cross the road you literally have to just go and have thousands of bikes zoom passed and around you. Literally thousands especially last night. Oh not only do you have to dodge them on the road but the bikes drive over the pavement too! Its crazy. Last night the main city square was closed off there were lots of lights, very loud music and lots of people. Well when midnight approached and the count down was over we heard the fire works but did not see anything. They were coming from a speaker system!! Everyone was looking up but unfortunately no fire works!! So we headed back to near our hotel where the streets were full of parties of dancers which of course were not just surrounded by people standing around but people on what else but motorbikes! So it was 3am to bed last night.
We leave Saigon tomorrow morning, heading to the central highlands to Dalat. So we have a 7 hour trip tomorrow!
