Rebecca & Suellen's Asian Adventure
Hi everyone, sorry it's taken such a long time to provide you with a second riveting installment of life here in 'KTM', for those that are pretentious.
So, a couple of weekends ago we went on a white water rafting trip on the Bhote Kosi river. There were about 12 of us, two rafts worth and we camped at the riverside. The rafting was great fun, we'd definitely like to do it again. We slept under a raft with a piece of tarpaulin over the top and used our super new sleeping bags, which were snugtastic. The toilet was moonlit and breezy, just how we like it. There's nothing like a breeze around your bum and the possibility of a fellow happy camper sharing the experience with you.
Last weekend we did a little day trip to Patan, the old city adjoining Kathmandu. It had some great temples and some even better persistent salespeople, of all ages. The temples featured some interesting 'kama sutra' style designs, the guide claimed they were to educate people about sex because they got married so young, but I don't think we'll be trying some of those positions, unless we can find a willing cow headed man. We also found a very large elephant, photo to follow at the weekend.
We have now started to experience the joys of teaching. We're on day 4 but it feels like week 4, let's hope it gets easier. We're at a pretty good school and teach 1.30-4.30 Sunday to Thursday. Suellen's teaching years 4 and 5, Rebecca's teaching years 6 and 7. We have a great walk to school via a sewage scented river complete with swimming pigs. What more could a working girl ask for? We're kept pretty busy with lesson planning and marking, which provides much amusement, eg. Question: What does the dog look like? Correct answer: The dog is black and white, Child's answer: Tired.
We promise to put a new set of photos on the site this weekend, with a few amusing ones thrown in.
Lots of love,
Suellen and Rebecca
