My last day in Laguna Niguel was another day to remember. Steve, Corrie and I traveled to Huntington Beach where I went to surf while they went round the shops (and Bars!!).
For the second time in a week, I saw the most amazing thing.
Again those Facebook users will have probably heard this story, however I'll repeat for those still living in the 19th Century.
I once again saw some fins, however this time I knew it was dolphins as I could see their full bodies around 20 m away from my board. There were around 10 of them. If that wasn't enough, around 3m away from my board a baby seal pops his head up in the same nature a "meerkat" would!
It's truly amazing to be able to say I surfed with dolphins & seals in the Pacific Ocean.
On Saturday evening we went to the Octoberfest event, which was great fun. Beer drinking, dancing and many people dressed up in traditional German clothing.
Early on Sunday morning I returned to LA where I was last here on the 10th September.
I traveled via Santa Ana at 5am as Steve wanted to watch the Man Utd vs Man City game. For Steve's sake I won't comment too much on that match. It did however mean I was able to travel straight up to LA just in time to catch the NFL action.
Once again my friend Paul has kindly let me crash on his couch. Paul is who I met in San Francisco and he lives a stones throw away from Hollywood Boulevard. While Hollywood is not really to my taste after adapting to the surf culture, it's very cool to be so close to where all the movie magic happens.
Within no time it had turned beer o'clock and we went to watch the NFL action at Hooters, round the corner from Paul's apartment. Paul's team the Pittsburgh Steelers won and my team the New Orleans Saints thrashed the Indianapolis Colts 62-7.
Monday I had my first day of flat waves therefore was unable to get out there on the board. I traveled up and down the coast with no success.
Yesterday was more successful. I settled on Malibu Beach where I was able to ride a few waves, although competition to catch them was fierce.
I'm anticipating a big weekend with the Halloween parties about to hit the town. On Monday there is a big parade in West Hollywood which will be great fun I'd imagine. The Americans certainly use Halloween as an excuse to party. I've never seen such anticipation for an event aside from Christmas.
