trucks entering the highway. That is what you can read on a sign on the "road" to one of Tasmanias attractions. Hestings caves are about 1.5 hours south west of Hobart. The caves are amazing and it is really worthy to take the track to go there. Beside the caves there is a thermal spring as well, with warm water the whole year round. But the thermal pool was a bit disappointing and not what we expected. I don't even know if it had the promised 28°C. But it was just an ordinary small swimming pool. Nevertheless we spend some time there and had a BBQ before we drove back to Hobart to find a bed for the night.
On the way back we decided to have a stop over at the Tahune Forest AirWalk. When we arrived there the visitors center was already closed. And we thought the way was for nothing. So it was quite a long detour. But when we had a look to the airwalk it was not locked so we could have a nice walk through the tops of the trees. Unfortunatelly we couldn't pay the 25$ entrance, as the visitors center was already closed. But anyway we could enjoy the nice view.
On the way back to Hobart it was already dark, so we had to drive very carefully, that we don't kill any animal. But unfortunatelly we didn't meet any animal. It would have been nice to meet one of the tasmanian devils.
When we arrived back in Hobart we were lucky and the first backpackers we tried had some free beds for the night. And there was nothing to complain about with this backpackers.
The next morning after breakfast we went to the habour to see the salamanca market, which is very famous for Hobart and one of Tasmanias attractions as well. But due to strong wind the market was closed. So I think I have to come back at another weekend to see that market. No market means more time for doing something else. So we drove to the mount wellington and on top of this mountain we felt the wind. It was really stormy up there. After a short walk which was said to take 3.5 to 4.5 hours we drove back to Hobart. By the way we did the walk in 2.5 hours. But maybe we didn't took the right way. It was sometimes really hard to find the way. But we made it back to the car and to Hobart again. There we had some fish and chips in the habour and then we drove back to Launceston. That was the weekend. Tomorrow, on sunday, there is something to do for the uni again.
