It is quite a long way to the center of Australia. I left Adelaide on June 27th and drove north. I reached Coober Pedy in the evening and I decided to get some sleep there after a day on the road. It was already dark when I arrived there, so I decided to sleep in the car outside the city. It is always hard to find something in a foreign city, when it is dark and everything is kind of closed already. The next morning I decided to drive further and have a look at the city on my way back. The road took me further north towards the center of the red continent. I reached the Ayers Rock Resort in the evening on June 28th. After I put up my tent on the campground I went to the Outback Pioneer for having dinner. The had a nice BBQ you could make yourself. You just had to buy the meet you want to cook there and then there where some gas BBQ grils on which you could cook your food. I had a bit of everything, crocodile, kangaroo, buffalo, emu and beef. It was quite nice.
The next morning I went to the Kata Tjuta National Part to see the famous rock. It was quite impressive and the Uluru has very different sides. It's definitely worth to walk around. After the base walk around the Uluru I drove to the national park itself and had a walk there. I was back at the rock just in time for the sunset. I got one of the last places at the sunset viewing area. So I would recommend to be there in time. It is a really colerfull spectacular and there are lots of people.
