Stu & Emma's big trip
Currently sitting in an internet cafe just off Patpong road preparing to go and check out all the sleaziness Bangkok has to offer. That said, Stu has already (unwittingly) had a 2hr massage from a ladyboy. As a defence, it was very dark in the room and emma was also in the room throughout. Only upon paying did the adams apple and stubble rash raise alarm bells.
We left Phnom Penh a couple of days ago, a city that is hugely behind all others that we have vistied, and one that is still so self-destructive that it is difficult to see any massive progress in the immediate future. There is a violent reputation (and undertone) and we did have one evening in the Heart of Darkness, a club that the Lonely Planet recommends a bit of caution when going to due to spoilt cambodians and over-eager (armed) bodyguards. We saw none of that and had a great time with some really friendly people.
This is it for the asian portion of the trip, we fly to fiji (via aus) tomorrow for new adventures. The asian stats:
2 months travelling
4 countries covered
13 major cities visted
2 bouts of "travellers sickness" each
0 muggings
1 engagement
We have travelled on planes, trains, slow boats, cyclos, motos, tuk tuks, elephants, cars, buses, bicycles, tubes, kayaks and sand sleds, and we have had a fantastic time doing it. We've seen some outstanding sights, such as Angor Wat and Halong Bay and some equally harrowing ones, such as the killing fields. Thanks once again for all of your messages so far, particularly around the Barney v Power confrontation (and our engagement). Stay tuned and see some of you in Aus soon.
Love, Stuart and Emma
