We kayaked down to Vientiene from Vang Vieng, great day and Steve and i almost made through the rapids but got plunged into a whirlpool at the very end, Roger is still boasting that he never capsized!

Vientiene isn't what you would expect of capital city, more the size of Luton maybe smaller with less traffic, not alot going on. We used the time here to decided on where else we wanted to go. In order to see more we chose to go South through the rest of Laos and into Cambodia then up through Vietnam. This was the same plan as Dan and Jen. With 5 of us traveling together now the idea popped up that we could hire a car which meant we can go at our own pace, stop when we want and get to see more and if somewhere is c@ap we can move on.

After a bit of negotiations with the hire company we got our Ford 4x4 pick up for one week at 60 dollars per person, bargain!

With the car picked up and bags chucked in the back we headed to our 1st stop, Thakek.
