Hey all,
Time for a new blog. Rich should be with internet some point soon so you can hear from him too a bit, just to let you know all is fine, we were at the hill today, i noticed a real improvement in my boarding, We took a differrent run (pika) rich took me there and had to wait for me at every corner (thank you!!). Pika is at the otherside of the mountain the the side in the photo; it was good as I hadn't been to that side yet.
We realised that i board strangely. You can be goofy or regular depending on which foot you would use to stop yourself falling. At first they thought I was regular....soon we realised I could only turn 'goofy'. So i was being called goofy by a few people after that (very nice). But now I can only turn goofy and going with the board straight down the hill and on a chair lift always regular and i'm struggling to change it!! but working on it.
All in all a good day at the ski hill for us both. After a short break after our morning we took a differnt run and I had a little tumble on my head (thank god for my helmet!!). after this I lost quite a bit of confidence but at least that was the the very top of the run so i had to keep going down. Next time should be better!!
Wednesday i finally had my orientation for mty job it was 3 hours long which was great compared to the 3 day long one at Chateau... that was boring!!
I am currently enquiring about doing massage for the hotel, I told the lady in HR that I can do it and i've noticed they have a massage room but no staff for it. I said Ideally i'd do this on a part time basis to begin with and housekeeping as normal (this is just because the hotel isn't very busy and I need at least 40 hours, we are getting less at the moment. So i am hoping this works out. the lady at HR seemed quite happy with it and put a note forward to the manager (who seems very nice). if I have to do an equivelency exam as long as it wasn't expensive i'd be quite happy to do that. So i'm going to write him a letter and see if things look up!!
In other news during orientation we had a talk by the local guys from the fire stn and i decided to join the fire dept here. It sounds like fun what they do, they train you up on a weekly basis. I went down on Wednesday eve and we looked around their ambulance, finding where everything was stored in it and how to ue their stretchers and put back boards on people who are in a car (this is so difficult!!) CPR some point (good because mine just ran out in Dec). A couple of friends of mine from chateau were already doing it.
loads of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
