We set off at a reasonable time in the morning as todays trip was about 400klms into Kings Canyon. We set up and then spent the afternoon relaxing.
The next day we drove about 10klms to the Canyon, and set off for a hike. The first section of this 8klm hike involved an 800m climb up steps. What a way to get the heart rate up. Due to my extreme fear of heights I set a blistering pace and arrived at the top about 5 minutes before anyone else. The rest of the hike was reasonably flat, and essentially you walk firstly on the north side of the canyon., then there are some stairs down to a 20m footbridge where you cross to the south side via a stp stair climb, When on this bridge you could look down onto the Garden of Eden which was very pretty with trees, shrubbery and water Again a flat walk across the south side and then the downhill, which wasn't quite as difficult as the ascent.
Kings Canyon is spectacular and for me much more interesting than Uluru as you can explore from every angle. If you are not a heights person parts of this walk would be very challenging for you.
The campground was the best so far, nice shady trees and very relaxing.
Next stop Alice Springs.
