Hay 11/3 15

Left bright and early from Pretty Beach for destination Hay. Quite a steep range on the eastern side of Canberra, so just took it steady. We negotiated Canberra road system reasonably well ( still married) and soon followed the great Murrumbidgee River parallel to the Sturt Hwy. We arrived at our chosen overnight camping spot on the banks of the Murrumbidgee at Hay by late afternoon, perfect spot. Checked out the township on an early morning walk the following day and we were surprised by some of the beautiful colonial architecture and original housing. On departure we stocked up with food supplies and bought what turned out to be the best rump steaks and lamb chops - can' t beat the country butchers.
