Steve's Global Adventure
I flew from Boston to Orlando on what has to be the best airline experience I have ever had. Surprisingly, it was also the cheapest ticket I think I have ever bought too at just $62. Loads of legroom, free drinks and snacks and the most gratious service (very unlike 'SleasyJet')!!
Being on my own again, I was back in hostels and not hotels again - gutted! The hostel was located in a place called Kissimmee, in the southern part of Orlando. I have to say, as far as hostels go, this was a good one - very clean, with it's own pool, lake with watersports, and free internet access. The bad thing about Orlando was the weather - sweaty hot days until about 4pm and then pissed it down.
I'm not quite sure how to write about my time in Orlando as the enjoyment was more about the people that I met as opposed to actually seeing and doing anything. On the first day though I met a group of 4 English & Scottish people, who were on holiday from Camp America (Harriet, Anna, Scott and Hannah). They invited me to join them at the Universal parks, so I gladly accepted. We had a fabulous few days exploring the parks and doing all the attractions and rides - thanks guys.
The evenings were spent getting pissed around the pool and then pushing each other in - generally just messing about. Quite dangerous when you think about it, but no harm was done.
Some things in Orlando, should be left unsaid in a public domain, but a big thank you to Marie for looking after me when I wasn't feeling myself one morning. Really appreciate your kindness honey - be safe.
I also met a ver inspiring lady from Brooklyn, New York, who in the same life time as myself had raised 3 wonderful children. "They were the most polite, considerate and well mannered American children I have ever met and they are an absolute credit to you. Good luck to you all."
That's all from Orlando. I then have to get the Amtrak (train) from Winter Park to Miami. Look out for the next installment.
Miss you all.
