'We are sailing, we are sailing!' Well we were! We've just finished! Before we left Noosa for our sailing trip we went kayaking on the river. I tell thi what, that rowin takes it out of you! Good work-out though I've got arms like popeye after he's had his plate of the good stuff! It wa funny though cos on the morning of us going kayaking, me and Alex weren't talking to each other and as we were paddling down the river we exchanged the odd 'you alright?' or 'this is good in't it?' not really giving a s*** what each of us thought. BUT! by the end of it we were splashing each other like mad, racing each other and I fell in like a tit! Got soaked!
After we dried off we drove up to Hervey Bay to prepare for our 'Fraser Island' adventure briefing. We were put in to groups and given a 4x4 and told to head for the supermarket to stock up for the three days, then we made our way to the barge that would take us to FRASER!!! It was pretty good actually, the group wasn't the best but we got through it and went to some amazing lakes. One in particular was Lake McKenzie. That was beautiful and we really should have stayed there longer but there was a power struggle with some members of the group and so it was decided that we should make our way further up the island to camp for the night.
The Island was great - no proper roads, we just drove on the beach and on mud tracks through the forest. We went to a ship wreck - wow! We swam in gorgeous creeks, played beach cricket and each day got crammed in to a s***ty small 4x4 with ten people, ten backpacks and loads of other s***e for the bumpiest, uncomfortable rides we've ever had! Other than that - it was a good three days. One of the girls allowed us to stay at her house in Rockhampton as we were making our way up north. We had a six hour journey to get to her house in the night and we drove through a storm - what an adventure that was! Then after a good nights sleep in Rockhampton (apparently famous for its Cattle) we had another five hour journey up to Airlie Beach where we would sail the WHITSUNDAYS!!!
When we got to Airlie Beach we met up with our friends from Africa! The same two that I literally bumped in to on the Great Ocean Road. Cat and Ling. It was so so great to meet up with them! We all had a good catch up. Then the following day was our first day sailing! Woohoo! Only, it started at 3pm so that was half the day gone already - but anyway - what a day! The sun was shining, it was hot, we had champagne! The views of all the islands and the harbours were gorgeous - we were just sunbathing soaking it all up, it was excellent and then we arrived at South Molle Island where we would stay the night.
Turned out that we were on Aussies equivalent of a s***ting 18 to 30s trip! We ended up playing drinking games (again) it was ok, but we were surrounded by so many young teenagers! My god don't I sound old?!! The second day we set off sailing around more islands, we saw an island where Nicole Kidman has a house - it looked very nice - but all day it was overcast - no sun! Then we returned to the same island for yet more fun and games. And, the last day - it pissed it down!!!! So for most of it I was below deck reading Da Vinci Code while Alew thought it was hillarious to place slices of salami on me b**** t***! And take photos! Cheeky b****! But we went snorkelling and that was fun - I saw some stripey fish!! Then we sailed in to Airlie beach harbour and Alex went to bed and I went out with Cat and Ling and got drunk! We had a great night!
And we are now - BACK ON THE ROAD - after a four hour drive we're in Townsville at the minute, think Magnetic Island is next, don't really know, I'm just going with the flow - it's easier!
See you all soon!!
