We arrived into Foz de Iguacu on the Sunday morning - we decided we would just head straight to the falls and then head for the Argentinian side. There was a little bit of messing around because we needed to leave our bags somewhere and there are lots of different bus stations in Foz (one for long distance busses, one for the falls/airport, One for Argentina) but in the end we got everything sorted and headed to the falls.
I had been told by quite a few people that it was definitely worth seeing both sides of the falls but probably better to see the Brazilian side first as the Argentinian side is much more impressive. We arrived at the falls and jumped on a bus to get to the trail to see the falls. It is a relatively short single loop - it's hard to describe the feeling when I first saw the falls - they are magnificent. There are a few walkways where you can walk nearer to the falls - leaving you soaking wet from the spray!! It is such an amazing feeling to stand in the roar of the falls and feel the spray soaking you!
Iguacu falls is massive, it's not the biggest (that's Victoria), not the most water (which is hard to believe when you see it - that's Niagra), not the highest (that's Angel falls) but it is often considered to be the most beautiful and I think it would be hard to disagree with that! There are 275 waterfalls all crashing and thundering into the river below, at different heights and widths, they are surrounded by stunning greenery; it really is an amazing site! So after completing the walk, soaking wet (but oh so happy) we headed off to collect our bags and get to Argentina.
Thanks to some very unhelpful bus drivers we ended up getting off a bit early, walked a bit, decided we could do with a taxi (we had all our stuff, it was hot and we weren't really sure how far we really had to go). Eventually a really nice taxi man stopped and seeing we were in need decided to rob us - well overcharge is probably the more appropriate word - so after paying approx. £8 to go less than a km we were at the Border and ready to head to Argentina!
