Stephen and Jo Planet Earth...
After Busselton we headed south to Margaret River having the intention of doing a 'Wine Tasting' tour we arrived slightly too late to do it that day so we booked for Wednesday and then headed south again to Augusta. This is were the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean meet. There is a lighthouse here called Leeuwin Lighthouse as there have been numerous ship wrecks here as they try and cut the corner. We decide to do the tour of the lighthouse and at the top we spotted 2 Humpback Whales (a mother and her calf) just off the coast we watched them for over an hour (saved us 70 dollars on a trip). Wednesday arrived a we set off on our 'Bushtucker Wine Tour' there were 20 of us and we had to wear name badges - not so everyone knew who we were but so that at the end of the day we remembered who we were !!! The tour consisted of 4 wineries, cheese and chocolate factories and a brewery. At each winery we tasted 7 or 8 different wines, they used allsorts of suffisticated terms to classify the wines I on the other hand had a much easier way, they were either White, Red, Pink or Fizzy - job done. 5 slurps = 1 glass of wine and we started at 11am so by 2 or 3 they all tasted the same anyway. We bought some cheese and chocolate for when we got home. My favourite being a self confessed lager lout was the brewery where we tasted 6 different brews from 4% to 7.4% nice !!! We finnally arrived back at our motel at 5pm a little worse for wear but having enjoyed the day tremendously.
