We had struggled to find somewhere to stay before leaving Perth because of Alice Springs hosting the 'Masters Games' - I'd never heard of it either ! This is where middle aged men and women come to play 35 different sports, it's hardly the Olympics. Our pad was above the local pub which was a bonus. We spent the morning sorting out our 3 and half day trip to Kings Canyon, Uluru and Kata Tjuta. In afternoon we went to the Reptile Center where they have all the local snakes and lizards on display. Our luck was in as they allowed us to handle a few of the lizards and the snake (an Olive Python called Scarlett) and it was feeding day for Scarlett - a dead rat. Apparently they only do this once a month and then she has a week off to digest it. We then headed to the Flying Doctors office for a tour - Personally I think Jo was just checking out the facilities before our camping trip to the Outback.
