Day 118 - Sunday 27th June
Skirted some of the islands before mooring up between two that were deserted and finally got to snorkel. So clear and with crazy coral and fish. Checked out the islands for the afternoon and ate some weird sea slugs for dinner...
Day 119 - Monday 28th June
Caught a fantastic sunrise over the islands before a 3 hour sail further up the archipelago (after some free diving to free the anchor). Cruised past Robinson Crusoe island with it's 3 solo palms. Moored up between 2 more islands and explored one with a local Kuna indigenous population. Got some great pictures on some horizontal palms out over the ocean before doing backflips off the boat. Finished the day with a sunset 5 a side football with some guys from other boats, England and Ireland vs The Rest of the World. Obviously we won. Night swim back to the boat and partied to some Colombian hit songs such as Atun con Pan (Tuna and Bread), Let's hear it for Barcelona come on...
Day 120 - Tuesday 29th June
Sailed onto Porvenir island for passport control by some Government officials in board shorts, topless with guns. The island also managed to squeeze on a TINY runway and we watched a light aircraft scoot low over the water on it's way in. Sadly failed to nail the running forward backflip off the dock and then we checked out another locally populated island. Then onto a gringo tropical island with a beach hut complete with 40inch plasma screen running off a generator to watch the Spain Portugal game. Surreal but great to use their cold fridge too! Followed up with beach volleyball, and Tarz-Yann taking the opportunity to climb up a tree. Yann's 19 and heavily built having surfed for years. Long hair and a disposition to climb and flip over everything gave him his name. He'd flown from Uruguay to Colombia and was heading to Costa Rica to start his new life. He had little with him but a surf board, snorkelling gear, a tent and a diablo. He was planning on buying a harpoon gun in Panama and was going to live off caught fish and fruit in his tent. He wasn't sure if/when he would get a job. Crazy but great guy. Back to our mooring from the night before a 4 a side rematch. A couple more South Americans on the other side and we got slightly schooled, despite my Venezuelan heritage...
Day 121 - Wednesday 30th June
Left early doors for the coast and a HUGE storm brewed. Soon the rain took visibility down to 20m or less and great forks of lighting dominated the sky. One hit the ocean easily less than 50m away, verging on scary but AWESOME!! Towards the end of the trip, better late than never, the trailing line caught a great big fish, complete with huge shark bite! Orinson was over the moon and set about cooking it up. The best fish I've ever tasted...
Pulled up into Puerto Lindo, a lush green estuary, dominated by American gringos. Couldn't get out to Panama City that night and so stayed in the german Hostel Wunderbar...Great local steak for dinner before Jann disappeared...
