Steph's Asia Trip
Went to the Boh Tea plantation today - was really stunning!! Views were amazing and the process of making tea seemed suprisingly simple - it only takes a few days!! There was an entire village devoted to tea pluckers!!
Hadn't realised that tea was fermented - i just thought it was dried. Did an interesting tour of the factory to see how tea is processed. Also, the difference between Oolang tea (probably the wrong spelling), green tea and black tea is just the length of time it's fermented, it all comes from the same tea plant!!
Has a really sweet taxi driver to take us there too - the cab was an old mercedes - thought it was great!!
Didn't have a cream tea though - had a cafe at the plantation but it wasn't like a proper english tea room!!
Leave the highlands tomorrow - sad to go really, but I'll probably come back once Tom's gone. We're gettin a 5 and a half hour coach journey to Penang Island - hoping to stay in Georgetown. Beaches aren't supposed to be very nice in Penang sadly, but it'll be nice to have a change of scenery. Atmosphere is good in Penang - lots of the travellers at our hostel are going there too.
Having a banana leaf dinner (like in KL) and then watching the football tonight - keeping my fingers crossed!!
COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!
