Went for breakfast in the greasy spoon in Coromandel since the nice cafés were closed. Was a so-so brekkie & sod's law the nice cafe's were open when we walked back up towards the Lion's Den! Got our bags and met the naked bus to go to Hahei.
The drive was scenic and very windy going up, over & down the hills. The scenery could be British except for more pronounced hills, the turquoise blue sea and the occasional palm tree in the forests...
We drove through Whitianga - a beach side resort that was a lot more developed than our destination, Hahei. We checked into our room in the backpackers hostel; it was a very homely & welcoming place.
Had a quick hour's lie down. We weren't sure whether we slept but left some little puddles of drool on the pillows, so concluded we probably had. Then got some shopping and had lunch and went off to see Cathedral Cove and all the other little bays that are nearby. Ended up being quite a long walk all in all. More good practice for the upcoming Milford Sounds tramp.
Came back and had a really nice shower, then watched Kick-Ass which was the evening's film in the hostel, and managed to stay awake until about 11:30.
