We woke up early and checked out of our hostel leaving our bags locked up. We had our breakfast before heading out to head to crocosaurs cove for our croc swim!! I was super excited at first until I got there and started to get a bit nervous. If something went wrong this croc would not hesitate to consuming me!
We had the usual safety briefing you would expect and before long we were climbing into the cage and being hoisted to our swim location in Chopper the salt water croc cage! It was very unnerving, Chopper literally came straight for us as soon as we got close. His eyes never left us, he knew we were food! Thank god for the thick plastic cage!!
We spent a fair while in the cage taking plenty of videos and pictures of us and Chopper. The keepers then dangled a bit of steak in front of Chopper and he jumped out and grabbed in in his jaws. I screamed a little! On our way up Chopper actually jumped for us too which was really scary to think if we were swimming without a cage we would be eaten!
We got dried and walked around the park a little more looking at the little baby crocs which are so cute! We did go and hold on and had to take this ultra cheesy photos, which we didn't buy! I just wanted to hold one!
We left the park and headed for a walk and found a nice park over looking the ocean and we had our picnic lunch! We headed over to the lagoon to meet up with Yannick from our tour. The sun was out in full force and it was hot! I'm not used to the sun after the winter we have had in Melbourne! What it going to be like in Dubai?!
We had a walk around the city centre and got our usual souvenirs! Darwin in the capital city of NT and is the smallest and most northerly of the Australian capital cities. The greater Darwin area is the ancestral home of the Larrakia people. On 9 September 1839, HMS Beagle sailed into Darwin harbour during its surveying of the area. John Clements Wickham named the region "Port Darwin" in honour of their former shipmate Charles Darwin, who had sailed with them on the ship's previous voyage which had ended in October 1836. The settlement there became the town of Palmerston in 1869, and was renamed Darwin in 1911. Having been almost entirely rebuilt twice, once due to Japanese air raids during World War II, and again after being devastated by Cyclone Tracy in 1974, the city is one of Australia's most modern capitals.
We walked past an old building that has been cornered off as it is a heritage listed building as it survived both the bombing and the cyclone. They could of done something with the building instead of leaving it derelict!
We went back to the hostel to eat some dinner and relax as we had to wait for our pick up to take us to the airport for our flight to Brisbane at 1:15 am! It was painful!! Plus the airport was completely dead!
