Monday 7th - Saturday 12th September 2015
So we had a casual morning before we headed off towards Key Largo, I was still pretty tired from the plane and travel from the last few days! It was a nice drive once we left the city! The Florida Keys is made up
We checked into our hotel and headed over to the dive shop to 'check in' and got everything sorted.
We have two dives every morning up to Saturday. We had a wonder to the dive shop and around the shops. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing around the pool. I got a little bit sun burnt though, whoops!
So we spent the next five days exploring at the dive sites they have to offer at key largo. My first dive we found a hawksbill turtle! I was so excited!! I think I used up a lot of my air as I was so excited!!
I think in total I saw four turtles, including a HUGE loggerhead turtle! It was super awesome!! We saw some amazing animals and fish along with some fascinating corals and some sweet ship wrecks!
I did a 30 meter dive to go to one ship wreck which they sunk on purpose to create a marine sanctuary. The current was really strong though and we had to use the rope to get to the wreck! We swam through a few doors which was a little scary for me! The coolest thing was the American flag that was still on the ship and it 'flying' in the current! It was pretty awesome!
It was so nice to be back in the water swimming with the fish and floating around!
I went to see the course director to see what it would involve to take my divers instructor course. It sounded very promising and they also said if they like anyone on the course they invite them to join their company. So I asked how easy it was to get a working visa for the states, which is easier than what I would have thought.
I am thinking of going next summer and seeing where it takes me next.
We had a great time diving and can't wait to get back into it too!
