We had a great day yesterday! We are currently staying at a free campsite to save some dosh and its right in the middle of a nature reserve, so its beautiful!!! We have been waking up to the sound of kookaburra's every morning (they sound like monkeys)!
As we were collecting firewood in the forest we started to hear rustles, all of a sudden a kangaroo jumps out of the bush and hops away! Always a good start to the morning when you stop one!
We then went to a national park next to a river called the Murray, quite alot of people go swimming there in the summer but noone was there! it was so beautiful I couldnt get my head round why it was abandoned.
For tea we made jacket potatoes (which were cooked on our fire), sliced fried potatoes with cheese suce and beans. Me and Ste decided it was up there with the lasagne as it was just scrumptious and so well timed!
As we started to eat it was just going dusky and the stars were just starting to show. We both enjoyed our food by the crackling fire and felt pretty happy with our day!!

A Day at the Races!
Today we went off to Pinjara Races to chance our luck. It wasn't quite Aintree and instead of the ladies day crowd the local retired population were in town! Steph and I just about brought the average age down to 80. We had 7 races to bet on and betting on 2 - 4 horses each race we felt were sure to win big time. Our tactic was to wait until the horses came out, see which ones looked most mental and sticking $2 on them. Otherwise we were picking from the name and how much money they had already won. This tactic failed miserably as by the time the final race of the day came we had won NOTHING!! Being British we kept our upper lips stiff and rallied for the last push! We put a dollar each on 5 horses to win and good old number 8 (a lucky dip selection by Steph) came through winning us $8 enough to bring us back on budget for the day! We were delighted but some of the pensioners weren't, grumbling how they should have gone to bingo instead!

So my birthday was at the weekend and me and ste travelled back up to Perth for it! Chrissy was dying to see me for my birthday as we havent spent one together since errrrmmmm well at least a couple of years! We went down on the friday, Chrissy wasnt back from work yet so me and ste had a couple of drinks in the car parked up outside her house lol! We both had the best showers ever (i hadnt had one for 5days!) and then we ate pizza and watched tv! Luxury!
On saturday morning Chrissy booked for me to get my hair done and she bought me some much need dye! she did the best job she could on it and continued to poke my head till she was satisfied she hadnt screwed it up to much! ha!
We went out that night with Chrissy, Jayne and Ben (our friend from home) it was a great night! We ended up eating loads before hand and in true British fashion ended up eating loads on the way back!! Quality!!! There was lots of ridiculous posing for photos and dancing inbetween! Thanks to Jayne the sponsored photographer they will be on facebook soon lol!
After all this we all woke up on Sunday morning feel excuse the expression rough as dogs balls!!
No one was in the mood to celebrate so we slumped on the couch and watched tv and movies! Chrissy was brave and started to cook a roast dinner which was amazing and Ste plucked up the courage to make a yorkshire pudding! YUMMY!! (he also made me a cake in the microwave - I have had better but its the thought that counts!!)
Overall it was a great birthday and the best bit is I am still waiting for some presents in the post so I get anyother birthday!!

Today is our last day at Marinup townsite as we have got oursleves a volunteering job in Balingup. We had no luck trying to find payed work so decided volunteering for food and accomodation was our best option. We looked into a scheme called WWOOFing (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) but this would have cost us $120 the organic rip off merchants! So we turned to google who returned www.helpx.net which so far has turned out perfect! $29 to join and the second phone number we rang got us work! We are heading to Perth tomorrow to say t'ra to Chrissy then meeting our host family on Sunday. They are called Bill and Sharon and they live on a small farm with their three children. As this is our first time volunteering we don't really know what to expect but we are both really excited and looking forward to it! Sharon has recently started playing soccer so I might even get a game!
Will post next week to let you know how it's going!
