We have all had enough of the trains. We ended up getting into Barcelona around 11:30 on the night of the 8th and were completely exhausted. We had to be at the train station at 6:45 the next morning, so we finished off celebrating Rachels birthday with chocolate cake and really good sandwiches in our way- below- par room. And then we traveled. All day. We arrived in Nice last night around 9. For those of you that dont know, France played Italy in the World Cup Final last night. Being that we are in France and France lost, the city was fairly somber. Our hotel is fairly center between the train station and the beach. We are going to spend today at the beach and then get on a train for Rome tomorrow at 10am. Hopefully it will be our last full day of travel on this trip. We are in Rome for 4 nights, then Florence for 4 nights, Venice for 2 nights, Interlaken again for 2 nights, London for 1 night, and then home... except for Nick & Ted who are leaving around Venice and Heather who is staying in Switzerland longer. Nice is an interesting place. Lots of neon signs and lots of Italians. We havent seen a whole lot of it yet and dont imagine we are going to get a fairly complete tour. But the beach is fine with us for now.
