My European Escapades
Yesterday all the students took a daytrip to Vienna. We had Mass in Kahlenberg, lunch at the Augustinerkeller, and then a tour through the city to see too many things to name here! The coolest of these were some ancient Roman ruins from when Marcus Aurelius came to Vienna, and St. Stephen's, a famous Gothic cathedral in the city. I had hoped to get to the art museum since I am taking a course in art appreciation, but we didn't have enough time. A group of friends enjoyed a leisurely dinner topped off with some Italian gelati (like ice cream but softer), then hung around having drinks at an Australian pub (kind of as a joke) until the bus came to take us back home. I tried this Austrian beer called a Radler (it's light beer mixed with lemonade), but decided once and for all that I just don't like beer.... my last hope is the fruity beers that supposedly await me in Brussels.
Since I have been appointed as coordinator of music ministry here, I have a lot of work to do and still have laundry and studying to await me today, so I will have to write again later with more details of what I saw in Vienna. At some point I would also like to sleep without waking to an alarm clock, too!
