When is the last time you watched the movie. Dr. Zhivago? And how many times did you see it? How well did you follow it??
Well, here we are in the St. Kilda area of Melbourne and what a fabulous area this is. It is a combination of all we know . . . the Heights of Little Rock, West End/Oak Lawn of Dallas, Little Five Points of Atlanta, Forest Park of St. Louis, Soho of NYC, and Haight Ashbury, of San Francisco, and on a Sunday morning, it is THE happening place in Melbourne. First we found the St. Kilda Market on the Esplanade, hosting a collection of art and craft-works set along the St. Kilda Beach. We bought three pieces of art that we think reflect us and our love of life. And we also picked up a couple of little prizes for our girls. It's hard not to buy lots of stuff, but we have so little luggage space for souvenir goodies.
We walked to the end of the Esplanade, past crowds of folks picnicking and enjoying the parks and past the St. Kilda yacht basin. Then we turned in toward the city and found a funky shopping area on Acland for restaurants, cool shops and food items for the apartment. By then it was 2:30 pm. Today, all our travels caught up with us. And tired chickens we were. We arrived back at our apartment and prepared a very late early-afternoon breakfast and then wouldn't you know, we happened to find the movie, Dr. Zhivago on TV . . . maybe the best love story ever told. If you have not watched that movie in a few years, get it now, and snuggle-up and enjoy. It will do you good.
